Six Flag St. Louis: Refill the thrill

Aug 11, 2009

If it sometimes feels like the thrill has drained out of your life, Six Flags St. Louis may be a great place for a recharge.

With a plentiful assortment of heart-pounding rides and show-stopping live performances, the 132-acre amusement park in Eureka, Mo., has more than enough action to keep the typical family entertained for days.

Dedicated ride-riders won’t want to miss attractions such as Batman: The Ride, 2,693 feet long and 10.5 stories tall. The two-minute experience takes riders on a four-G blast through five thrilling loops and speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.

The Ninja offers 2,430 feet spirals, steep drops, a double corkscrew and more, with a top speed that would start police lights flashing on many highways: 65 miles per hour.

Other high-thrill rides include Superman: Tower of Power, Screamin’ Eagle, The Boss, and Xcalibur. Families can focus on rides such as the Foghorn Leghorn National Park Railway, The Joker, the Log Flume and other attractions that offer fun without fear.

You can take a break from the rides with a variety of shows, or cool off at the 12-acre Hurricane Harbor water park that features a 560,000-gallon wave pool, a five-person raft adventure ride, slides, and a play area for kids. There’s no extra charge for entry to the water-park.

The action winds down each night with Glow in the Park. Launched in 2009, the light-up parade features six custom-designed floats and more than 100 performers and crew.
