Shrek The Musical comes to Fox Theatre Sept. 11-26

Jul 25, 2010

You’ve been green with envy over your friends who have been able to catch Shrek The Musical, the new hit Broadway musical, in New York City. Now you have the chance to enjoy the new musical adaptation of the Academy Award-winning movie about an ogre who lives happily ever after right in St. Louis! Shrek The Musical plays at the Fox Theatre in downtown St. Louis from Sept. 11–26.

This new musical, adapted from the 2001 DreamWorks computer animated smash hit, introduces 19 brand-new songs and dazzling dancing while retaining the witty dialogue, hilarious twists and heart-warming message of the original film. You haven’t really seen the story of a crusty ogre with a heart of a gold, his noble but garrulous donkey sidekick and the princess with a secret until you have seen the stage version.

Curtains rise for Tuesday through Saturday nights at 8 p.m.; matinees on Saturdays and Sundays begin at 2 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 12 and 19, the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. There will be a 1 p.m. performance on Thursday, Sept. 23. The performance on Friday, Sept. 24, will be signed for the deaf. Groups of 15 or more can get discounts at select performances.

Girl Scout groups of 10 or more can get a discounted price of $20 each for Lower Balcony tickets or $30 each for Rear Orchestra tickets at select performances. To access the Ogre Form or to learn more about the Girl Scout discount, click here.

Thanks to the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation, the Saturday, Sept. 11, matinee at 2 p.m. lets one child 17 and younger in free with a paying adult. This offer is available at the Fox Theatre’s Box Office only and doesn’t apply to the most expensive seats.

Tickets range from $26 to $68. You can find details, dates and times, and group discount rates here. You can buy them online, by calling (314) 534–1111 or by visiting the Fox Theatre’s Box Office Monday through Friday, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Group ticket purchases must go through the Group Services Department for there to be any discount. You can place a group ticket order online or by calling (314) 535–2900.
